About Us
Built for the conversations people aren't having
Bigger Than Culture began with a conversation we kept having in private.
Between us and the people around us, we noticed a fear of saying things, not a shortage of opinions, but a reluctance to put them in the open where someone might disagree.
So we built a room for them. A motion on the floor, two sides, an audience, and no script. We don't pick winners and we don't take sides. We just make sure the argument gets a fair hearing.
The format
- One motion
- Each night runs on a single motion, published before the doors open.
- Two sides
- Speakers are assigned for and against, with equal time on the floor.
- An audience
- The room asks questions. Anyone can put one to either side.
- No script
- Nothing is rehearsed and nothing is edited on the night.
- No winner
- We do not hold a vote and we do not declare a result.
Neutrality
We host the argument. We do not hold a position.
Bigger Than Culture has no side on any motion it puts on the floor. We choose motions that people already disagree about, we give both sides the same time, and we leave the room to make up its own mind. Nothing we publish is an endorsement of either case.
Propose a motion or apply to speak
Send us the argument you keep having.
Tell us the motion and which side you'd take. We build each card from what comes in.
